CSI: Reading Skills

On Wednesday 2nd May a company called AS Creatives came to the school and delivered reading workshops to students in Years 7 and 8. Students had to use a variety of reading and inference skills to unravel a series of clues.

In the ‘CSI: Reading Skills’ workshops, students had to work in small teams to help out in a time of national emergency: a briefcase containing some Top Secret plans was discovered on the 8.42 to Little Padworth, destined for an Enemy Power. Students had a pack of texts, including cryptic messages, old train tickets, recipes, book reviews and faded photographs. These contained hidden clues to the identity of the traitor, and students had to read the texts carefully to unravel the clues, in order to discover who took the plans and why, and to save the country!

The students in all classes got involved in the workshops, worked well in teams, and enjoyed their time as detectives!

All Year 7 students took part in the workshops, as well as one group of Year 8 students who took part as a reward for their hard work in English this so far year. Their names are listed below:
